HOW IT STARTED
Hi, My name is Maria North, the visionary behind Maya Burrito. I was born and raised in Yucatan, Mexico. I grew up working in my family’s restaurant.
I can remember my mother and I shopping in the Mexican markets as she taught me how to select the best avocados, vine-ripened tomatoes, flavorful onions, and prepare those ingredients to make the freshest foods possible. Our dishes are prepared in our open concept kitchen with the freshest ingredients, each hand-picked by us.
We’re trying to bring a little bit of our Mayan Culture to the Hocking Hills using a special blend of herbs and spices, including the Mayan spice, Achiote. Our recipes were created by my mother and I, and are rooted in the Mayan tradition.
